Worthy Sons of Holy Mother Church:
As we approach the Advent season in preparation for Christmas, this is the season to prepare our hearts for Christ. Christ will come to us as a child, vulnerable and innocent and needing our attention as a child. This is also the posture we need to cultivate in our own lives, vulnerability in our approach to the Father, innocence in having our hearts purified in the Advent season and we need the Father’s attention in caring, healing, and fostering our lives.
We receive these gifts and God’s attention when we come to the Eucharist weekly or even daily if possible. We are fed and nourished at the table of the Lord and strengthened with that heavenly nourishment that only He can provide for us. Let us try with all our hearts again this year to be the best children we can be and try to please God the Father with a fresh outlook on our lives.
Fr. Benedict Alby, Faithful Friar for D’Arcy McGee Assembly said in his homily a couple of months ago that the Father wants us to have an experience of him. It is not just a relationship but also an experience of His love and goodness to us. Every encounter with Christ has an experience, every time at Mass we should be experiencing His love and mercy, His forgiveness His teaching; even at our work, our home with our spouse or family members, our involvement with the Knights, our friendships outside of our comfort zone brings about an experience and presence of God. God is everywhere and, in all things and through those experiences we should be able to witness God’s presence in our lives. Are we open to perceiving these experiences and taking them into our hearts and letting those kindle in us how much we need to appreciate how close God is willing to be present to us? As children of God, experiences in our lives form relationships of some kind, some stronger than others but much more valuable. Let us welcome such experiences, we will be better for it and stronger for it. Praise God in all things, all experiences and in all relationships.
On behalf of my wife Maria Violeta and myself, I extend my sincere wishes for a fruitful Advent, a Holy and Happy Christmas and a very Blessed New Year.
God Bless You All
